It's taken me a long time to finally realize that the title of this blog should in fact end with an exclamation mark and not a question mark. I've spent the last 16+ years of my life wrapped up in being "Mom" to my 4 kids, and there have been times when I've lost sight of who I am beyond Jaxon, Kylie, Avery and Blake's Mom.
That's why I started Erin Parsons Designs. I missed that creative side of me that I enjoyed so much before I had kids. I inherited my love of creating and designing from my mom - she's my hero. This is a woman who would work nights in our local emergency room as a nurse, come home and get very little sleep, take care of me and my 3 brothers and still find time to sew, knit, crochet, reupholster furniture and whatever other craft technique she's taught herself to do over the years.
Moms are some of the busiest people in the world. We're constantly running around, taking care of our families, and making sure everything is in order. With all of this responsibility, it can be easy for us to put our dreams on hold. However, it's important for us to remember that we should still chase our dreams too, even while we're helping our kids to follow theirs. Here are just a few reasons why:
Moms deserve to be happy too!
As a mom, we're often so focused on taking care of our families that we forget to take care of ourselves. Chasing our dreams is a great way to remind us that we're important too! Whether you want to start your own business, go back to school, or take up a new hobby, pursuing your passions can bring a lot of happiness and fulfillment to your life. If you're feeling happy and good about yourself, those feelings are sure to be noticed and spread to the rest of your family. After all, positive energy is contagious.
Setting an example for your children
Whether we realize it or not, we're always setting an example for our children. By pursuing our dreams, we are showing our children that it's never too late to follow your heart and make your dreams a reality. We're also teaching them that hard work and determination can lead to great things.
A chance to meet new people
Chasing our dreams can also be a great way to meet new people and expand our social circle. Whether you're taking a class, attending a conference, or joining a club, pursuing a passion can help you connect with like-minded individuals who share your interests.
Keeping your mind active
As we get older, it's important to keep our minds active and engaged. Pursuing your passions can be a great way to challenge yourself and keep your brain sharp. Whether you're learning a new skill or tackling a new project, pursuing your dreams can help you stay mentally fit and alert.
A sense of accomplishment
Finally, pursuing your dreams can give you a great sense of accomplishment. Whether you achieve your goal or not, the act of trying and putting yourself out there can be incredibly rewarding. You will learn new things, face challenges, and grow as a person, and that in itself is something to be proud of.
In conclusion, there is no reason that becoming a mom should stop you from chasing your passions. In fact, it's a reason for you to pursue them even more aggressively. After all, you deserve to be happy too and you're setting an example for your kids to follow. So go ahead, mom, chase your dreams and show the world what you're made of!
